Our work doesn’t stop at planting trees. After they are planted, it’s important to continue to care for young trees. This includes watering, weeding, mulching, and pruning. When it comes to trees, Tree Pittsburgh cares for trees with an 8” diameter or less. Larger trees are the maintenance responsibility of city or borough public management, or property owners.
To learn more about caring for trees on your private property, visit our Basic Tree Care and Maintenance page.

Tree Care Crews & Staff
Tree Pittsburgh has a team of year-round and season staff members who care for young trees through the changing of the seasons. The crews change from year to year, but the work is the same: to protect our urban forest through proper young tree care.
You can check for any open tree care positions on our Employment & Internships page.
Volunteering
Would you like to help us care for young trees across Allegheny County? Visit our Events Calendar for a list of upcoming volunteer days.
