All Allegheny County residents are encouraged to pursue TreeVitalize plantings. To plant a street tree outside the City of Pittsburgh, check with your local borough or township leadership.

In the Fall of 2013, the partners celebrated planting the 20,000th tree near Point State Park. A large swamp white oak (Quercus bicolor) was planted in the median near the park.

You can also plant a tree yourself. Before you grab the shovel, note that the City of Pittsburgh will still need to perform an analysis to determine if your property can support a tree. While this option allows you to select your species, the City will provide a list of acceptable trees for your location.
All tree work, including planting trees, requires a permit from the City of Pittsburgh. You can learn more on their website, linked here.
