TreeVitalize is program created by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR). The program launched in Pittsburgh in the spring of 2008 with Allegheny County Parks, City of Pittsburgh, Tree Pittsburgh, and Western Pennsylvania Conservancy as partners leading the effort to plant 20,000 trees in Allegheny County.
In the Fall of 2013, the partners celebrated planting the 20,000th tree near Point State Park. A large swamp white oak (Quercus bicolor) was planted in the median near the park.
