Reforestation

Replenishing tree canopy

reforestation

Reforestation is an important part of increasing our urban tree canopy. Tree Pittsburgh’s reforestation program plants trees areas where natural growth has been hampered by non-native species, illegal dumping, or other disturbances.

Reforestation plantings often occur on hillsides.

To complete these projects, Tree Pittsburgh works with partner organizations, volunteers to bring invasive plants under control, plant new trees, and then maintain these sites until the trees have become established as a new forest.
