Tree ID Walks

Want to know more about the trees around you? Learn basic tree identification skills with Tree Pittsburgh’s Certified Arborists. Discover trees during every season: Flowers in spring, summer leaves, seeds, nuts, and fruits of fall (as well as beautiful color), and the bark, buds, and branch structure of winter. Tree ID Walks may include walking up hills in parks and cemeteries off the pavement.

These two-hour walks are geared for adults and not appropriate for children under 16. Please do not bring pets to the walks.

Tree Identification Walks count toward both Penn State and Phipps Master Gardener Certification Continuing Education Credits.

Nursery Workshops

Our Heritage Nursery not only provides trees for our reforestation projects, but it also serves as a unique educational experience! Come to our campus along the Allegheny River for a guided tour of the nursery followed by a volunteering session! If you’d rather not get your hands dirty, come down for a guided tour of the nursery followed by your group’s regular meeting in our pole barn or education center.

To create a custom-tailored program on our campus, reach out to Maeve Rafferty at maeve(at)treepittsburgh.org.
