For 20 years, Friends of the River­front has been on the ground and in the water, work­ing to pro­tect and restore our region’s price­less rivers and river­fronts. Learn more about Pitts­burgh exten­sive land and water trails as well as how to become a part of their pro­tec­tion and maintenance.

PACFC serves as a vehi­cle for DCNR Bureau of Forestry and Penn State Uni­ver­si­ty to guide a statewide pro­gram that pro­vides tech­ni­cal and finan­cial assis­tance for com­mu­ni­ties and vol­un­teer groups.

The Pitts­burgh Parks Con­ser­van­cy was found­ed in 1996 by a group of cit­i­zens con­cerned with the dete­ri­o­rat­ing con­di­tions of Pitts­burgh’s parks.

MWCDC is the lead­ing force behind the cre­ation of Pittsburgh’s newest park, Emer­ald View Park – 235 acres of trails, forests, and pas­sive green space.

Penn State Exten­sion staff pro­vides you with tech­ni­cal exper­tise on every­thing from food pro­duc­tion to tree pests and dis­eases. Learn more about their many edu­ca­tion pro­grams host­ed through­out the year.

The Shade Tree Com­mis­sion is an orga­ni­za­tion, linked to the May­or’s office with the task of restor­ing and main­tain­ing the city’s tree pop­u­la­tion, in recog­ni­tion of the val­ue of Pitts­burgh’s urban tree canopy as one of our city’s great­est assets.

NMRWA works to ensure the restora­tion and pro­tec­tion of the Nine Mile Run Water­shed through cit­i­zen engage­ment and demon­stra­tion projects.
