Become a Tree Tender

Want to get involved with the trees in your neigh­bor­hood or com­mu­ni­ty? Become a Tree Ten­der! Tree Ten­ders is our flag­ship course that teach­es you all about trees and how to become an advo­cate for them in your neigh­bor­hood. This course cov­ers urban forestry prac­tices, tree biol­o­gy and health, basic tree iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, prop­er prun­ing and main­te­nance, and instruc­tion on how to lead your com­mu­ni­ty in orga­niz­ing tree plant­i­ngs and tree care.

Online Tree Ten­der Course: 3 Part Webi­nar (Must attend all 3 sessions)

May 21, May 28 and June 4
6pm — 8pm
Online Webi­nar Only. No in-per­son class­es are being offered at this time.

This Tree Ten­der Train­ing ful­fills the require­ment for Tree­Vi­tal­ize Grants offered by DCNR.

This online webi­nar will be taught via the web using ZOOM, but atten­dees do not need spe­cial soft­ware installed on their com­put­ers. Lec­tures are record­ed and can be viewed by atten­dees that miss a live lec­tures. An online quiz must be com­plet­ed fol­low­ing each lec­ture in order to com­plete the course and obtain a certificate.

This is a 3‑part evening series Online Webi­nar. You must attend ALL 3 ONLINE SESSIONS to become cer­ti­fied as a Tree Ten­der: May 21, May 28, and June 4. If you are unable to par­tic­i­pate live you will have to view the online recordings.

All 3 ses­sion run from 6–8 pm.

$20 Reg­is­tra­tion fee includes online instruc­tion. We will mail a copy of the Tree Ten­der book and cer­tifi­cate after com­ple­tion of the course. Con­tact for more information.


Par­tic­i­pants will need high speed com­put­er inter­net access, with speak­ers, as well as an email address in order to com­mu­ni­cate with the instructor.

You will receive instruc­tions for access­ing a webi­nar after reg­is­tra­tion. It is rec­om­mend­ed that you log in to the webi­nar a few min­utes ear­ly to make sure that you are not expe­ri­enc­ing any tech­ni­cal dif­fi­cul­ties.
