Sapling Saturdays: Edible Ornaments
What are your backyard birds having for dinner this Holiday Season? We invite you to create a feast for them at our edible ornaments drop-in workshop. This make-and-take activity utilizes pine cones and other natural items for crafting decorative, tasty (for birds!), hanging treats to adorn your outside trees. All materials will be provided, plus snacks and warm apple cider, and a few surprise activities.
Saplings (children) of any age are welcome, and must be accompanied by an adult.
Pricing and Registration
Free. Registration is helpful but not essential. Donations welcome!
Allergen note
We’ll not be using peanuts/ peanut butter or tree nuts for the edible ornaments, though it is possible that some of the bird seed we use may contain traces of peanut or tree nut.
Tree Pittsburgh Tree Adoption
This program will run alongside Tree Pittsburgh’s public tree adoption event. Although all trees have been claimed via pre-registration, there may still be an opportunity for you to snag some free trees for your yard. At noon, any trees not picked up will be available on a first come, first served basis. Arrive by 11.30am for your best chance of adopting any leftover trees.
