Heritage Nursery Volunteer Day — Winter Preparation
With autumn in full swing it’s time to start preparing our nursery for winter! We are looking for volunteers to help us get our young trees protected from the coming cold temperatures of winter and also get our nursery ready for some off season infrastructure projects. Our plans are to get a couple thousand trees moved around the nursery, we will be consolidating the grow rows, getting as many trees as possible put inside our high tunnel hoop houses, clearing out the greenhouse, getting the white poly covers installed on the hoop houses and finally healing in the trees in the grow rows with wood chips. This is a critical task to help our young trees survive the winter and thrive next spring. Looking for volunteers who are capable of lifting and moving our 2–3 gallon sized containerized trees. We will provide gloves and tools including wagons to help move the trees around. We ask volunteers to dress appropriately for the weather and wear closed toed shoes. Your help is greatly appreciated and we look forward to working with you.
