Join Tree Pittsburgh for an expert-led discussion of compost and compost systems, soil composition and health, and the use of biochar as an amendment. Led by Russell Thorsen, Farmer Outreach Specialist at Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA), and Hayly Hoch, Natural Resources Outreach Educator at Allegheny County Conservation District (ACCD), participants will learn about composting at a community garden scale, as well as troubleshooting your home compost system.

We will look at compost pile inputs, discuss scaling systems to meet your goals, and get our hands dirty turning a pile. The workshop is from 5:30-6:30 pm, but feel free to arrive at 5 pm if you’d like to explore the farm!
