This vol­un­teer event will focus on prepar­ing the Her­itage Nurs­ery for winter.

We will be heel­ing in our con­tainer­ized plants using wood chips. This involves pack­ing the wood chips in and around the pot­ted trees to pro­tect them from the harsh win­ter cold.

We will pro­vide gloves, knee pads, safe­ty glass­es, and tools. Please wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts. This task is rel­a­tive­ly easy but will involve work­ing on hands and knees and care­ful­ly stuff­ing the wood chips between our frag­ile young trees.

Heel­ing in the nurs­ery is very impor­tant to be done before the win­ter sets in for the health of our trees next season.
