Tree Planting at Crouse Run Nature Reserve

On Sat­ur­day, Octo­ber 27, please join Tree Pitts­burgh and the Pine Creek Land Con­ser­va­tion Trust for a tree plant­i­ng along Crouse Run in Alli­son Park!

Tree Pitts­burgh, a mem­ber of Alliance for Com­mu­ni­ty Trees, has part­nered with the Pine Creek Land Con­ser­va­tion Trust for this event to help con­tin­ue the progress that has been made on improv­ing the ripar­i­an buffer zone along Crouse Run, an impor­tant trib­u­tary of Pine Creek.

Thanks to fund­ing made pos­si­ble by part­ner­ship with CSX Trans­porta­tion, 95 new trees will be plant­ed with­in the Crouse Run Nature Reserve dur­ing this event.  Plant­i­ng these trees will help with flood con­trol, pro­vide wildlife habi­tat, and com­pete with non-native inva­sive species that threat­en to col­o­nize the reserve, in addi­tion to pro­vid­ing beau­ty for gen­er­a­tions of hik­ers to come.

Park­ing:  Trav­el to 2684 Wild­wood Rd, Alli­son Park, PA 15101.  Pull into the park­ing lot to the right of the Stak Shak and con­tin­ue until you reach the entrance to anoth­er grav­el park­ing lot on the right.

Date & Time: Sat­ur­day, Octo­ber 27 from 9am-12pm

Vol­un­teers should come pre­pared with boots/hiking shoes, long pants, and cloth­ing appro­pri­ate for the weath­er that can get dirty.

Work gloves, tools, and all project mate­ri­als will be pro­vid­ed.
