Plant trees with Public Lands
Friday, October 21, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join Tree Pittsburgh and Public Lands to plant trees on Negley Run Boulevard!
Please register here so we know to expect you.
Over the summer Tree Pittsburgh, volunteers, and a herd from Allegheny GOATscape pushed back invasive plant populations to prepare this site for planting trees this fall. This is one of 4 plantings on Negley Run Boulevard this fall.
This project will be RUGGED. Volunteers must wear long pants, close-toed shoes or boots, and weather-appropriate clothing (jackets, gloves).
Tree Pittsburgh will provide tools, equipment, and work gloves. Please feel free to bring your work gloves too.
Brief Site History
In the early 1900s, Negley Run Blvd’s north side was lined with numerous homes, demolished around the middle of the century. After the demolition of these homes, this area was incorporated into Highland Park, becoming a part of the park’s wooded southern arm.
Following the demolition of the homes, invasive plants moved into the disturbed area and have spent the last 50+ years spreading and crowding out native canopy trees that would otherwise offer a healthier forest ecology.
