June 27 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
For the past six months, Tree Pittsburgh has had the pleasure of hosting artist Ashley Cecil as our Artist-in-Residence at our beautiful campus on the Allegheny River. Her time with us concludes with the exhibition FRUITFUL, opening June 27 from 6–8 p.m. on our campus. The work will be displayed until September 26, 2019.
Ashley spent six months reading books, spending time with our staff, and in our Heritage Nursery to learn about the urban forest and the benefits it provides. FRUITFUL is the culmination of Ashley’s time, reflecting specifically on how trees and green space can protect and heal our bodies and reduce inner city crime.
Ashley’s work sheds light on what we stand to gain by protecting and expanding urban forests, as well as a theme of reciprocity — when we plant and care for trees, they generously give back to us.
Join us for the opening of FRUITFUL Thursday, June 27 from 6–8 p.m. to view Ashley’s work and enjoy drinks and refreshments as well as print-making with fresh leaves (kid friendly!) This event is open to the public, but we do ask for an RSVP here.
Twenty-five percent of all proceeds from the exhibition will support Tree Pittsburgh programs. Thank you to The Fine Foundation and the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust Fund for their support of this residency collaboration.
