Climate change is impacting trees and forests around the globe. Conifer trees are considered a sensitive species, and we must act to understand the impacts and prepare so that conifers can thrive in the future. Conifer trees provide year-round benefits, including cleaning the air, blocking wind, buffering noise, and providing wildlife habitat.
Regional experts will come together to share the state of conifers in our region, current and future challenges for the species, species selection, and adaptation strategies.
The symposium will help to inform a plan for Allegheny County and SWPA — a larger effort made possible through the generous support of the Richard King Mellon Foundation.
Who should attend? Tree Planting organizations, tree nurseries and garden centers, tree care companies, arborists, students and educators, and tree enthusiasts. Registration includes a light breakfast, lunch, and reception refreshments.
