Westin employees care for trees in Strip District

 In Blog, Corporate Volunteers

On Wednesday, May 24, employees from the Westin Convention Center volunteered their time to work with Tree Pittsburgh. Eight Westin employees weeded, mulched and watered trees in the lower Strip District.

The Westin’s commitment to Tree Pittsburgh doesn’t stop with volunteer days. The Westin Convention Center launched a new initiative in 2016 in support of Tree Pittsburgh’s tree planting program! If a guest decides to forego housekeeping services, they can choose to have a donation sent to Tree Pittsburgh on their behalf. This partnership is a great example of how corporations can positively impact the community by encouraging greener practices and supporting local environmental initiatives.

Thanks to the Westin guests who make a greener choice and to the Westin for being such a great corporate citizen!

If you would like to volunteer for Tree Pittsburgh with your company or office, contact Director of Tree Care and Reforestation Jake Milofsky.
