PLEASE NOTE: This blog post is from 2018. The City of Pittsburgh has changed its recycling locations in 2019. To see the new list of locations, please visit this post.
Now that the holiday season is behind us, it’s time to think about how to recycle Christmas trees! There are options for residents of the City of Pittsburgh as well as Allegheny County on the list below. If you live outside of Allegheny County, please contact your city, township, or borough office to inquire about recycling Christmas trees.
In order to recycle Christmas trees, all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and stands need to be removed. Trees in plastic bags or netting will not be accepted. City of Pittsburgh officials have warned that trees left on the curbside will be sent to a landfill with other waste and not recycled.
