Trees Make Good Neighbors

Tree Pittsburgh works throughout the City to protect and restore the urban forest through education, advocacy, tree planting and maintenance.  Our main programs and special projects help us to achieve this mission.

Tree Tenders: Tree Tenders participate in an 8-hour educational course about urban forestry, tree planting and care, and work hard in their communities to ensure a healthy       urban forest for generations to come.

Arbor Aid: Art Created from Salvaged Wood:  Arbor Aid is Tree Pittsburgh's annual fundrasier, and celebrates trees as living assets to the City, while showcasing urban wood as sculpture, furniture, and artwork created by local woodworkers.

Arbor Day Celebrations: Arbor Day is the nation's oldest environmental holiday, started by J. Sterling Morton in 1872 as a tree planting holiday.  In Pennsylvania, Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday of April.  Tree Pittsburgh celebrates Arbor Day City-wide at libraries and schools with tree plantings, tree-themed stories, and educational activities.
